Hello there,

Welcome to the new look of my monthly newsletter! I am currently navigating a new platform as my mailing list grows, so there’s lots to learn and explore. Let me know what you think of the new look, and what you’d like to see more/less of 😀

This Month’s Adventures

The month of February was full of excitement as I travelled to Thailand for the first time in 3 years (I was there just before the COVID border closures). I was invited by a number of universities to give a series of lectures, workshops, and also provide students with feedback on their work. This flurry of activity was then thankfully followed by some down time at the beach where I worked on the manuscript of book 3 of the Georgia Lee’s series. Here are some pics of my escapades (there are also more on Instagram and Facebook)!

Giving a lecture at the Silpakorn University.
Art workshop at the Poh Chang Academy of Arts.
Looking very annoyed at my manuscript at the beach in Koh Tao 😂😅

Of course, I couldn’t visit Thailand without digging a little further into its history. I made my way to the Bangkok National Museum and spent a long time there, marveling at its wonderful and extensive collection. Having recently been to India, I noticed a marked similarity in the Indian and Thai aesthetics and architecture - something which I hadn’t realised before.

One of the many stunning artefacts from the Bangkok National Museum.

We all know that Thailand is a country devoted to Buddhism, with its iconic temples and saffron-robed monks. But like many South East Asian countries, there has also been a lot of Hindu influence in its past. The region was once ruled by Indianised Kingdoms such as the Mon, the Khmer Empire, and Malay States. So there was plenty of trade with these kingdoms - not to also mention, wars.

At the museum there were an abundance of images of the Buddha, but also many of Hindu gods such as Ganesh, Visnu, and Shiva. Check out some of the pictures on my Instagram or Facebook 😀

What I’m Reading/Watching

Written by award-winning Australian journalist, Sharri Markson, What Really Happened in Wuhan, is part thriller, part expose of the origins of COVID-19. Well researched and paced, this has been a riveting read so far!

Until next month, stay happy and well 🙂
